Book Balm - Oil for Leather Book Covers

£15.15 £9.85

This Book Balm is the culmination of years of research, experimentation, and work. It is the absolute best recipe that I have used on my own books and I have been using it for years now.

The perks of this particular blend are that it moisturizes the leather very well and penetrates well thanks to the linseed oil. The lanolin then works to lock that moisture in over the long term, which is exactly what we need for our books! Oh, and the recipe is on the tin, if you want to make more once you've ordered! Or you can keep buying from me and support the channel this way!

I work with pure oils with no additives (this reduces the risk to your books). I use this blend on my own books, so that's the best seal of approval that I can offer!

NOTE: Books don't need to be oiled every day. Some don't need it every year--although a lot of people do like to oil their books annually. You have to use your best judgment when oiling.

Use Notes (Instructions also on tin):

I apply book balm with my fingers (no gloves) and gently work it into the leather. You can use daubers and soft brushes as well. When applying the oil, ensure consistent application and that the oil is worked in, don't leave excess oil. I recommend giving the oil time the penetrate the cover (at least 12 hours, preferably 24) before wiping it down and opening the book again.
